Meet the Founder

Growing Brave Studio was created from a deep belief that children thrive when they are seen, supported, and given safe opportunities to express who they truly are. My work sits at the intersection of mental health, child development, and the performing arts, bringing together evidence-informed practice and creative expression in a way that feels accessible, engaging, and genuinely supportive for children.

My work at Growing Brave Studio is informed by formal training in mental health and child, youth and family support, alongside an undergraduate certificate in psychology and many years of experience in performing arts education. I am committed to continued professional development and regularly undertake learning to deepen my understanding of neuro-affirming, child-safe, and strengths-based practice. This professional background supports a thoughtful, ethical approach to delivering creative wellbeing and capacity-building supports, intertwined with mentoring.

As both a practitioner and a parent with lived experience of neurodiversity, I understand the importance of working alongside families with empathy, respect, and flexibility. I am passionate about creating a space that feels calm, supportive, and free from pressure — particularly for children who may feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, or overlooked in more traditional settings.

At its heart, Growing Brave Studio exists to support children who march to their own beat, helping them build skills, confidence, and resilience through creative wellbeing experiences that honour who they are.

Growing brave isn’t about being fearless — it’s about feeling safe enough to try.

My Approach

At Growing Brave Studio, services are delivered using a person-centred, strengths-based approach that supports children to develop skills, confidence, and independence through creative wellbeing experiences.

Practice is informed by current mental health and child development frameworks and is responsive to the individual needs, goals, and pace of each participant. Sessions are delivered with a balance of gentle structure and flexibility, supporting predictability while allowing activities to be adapted based on the child’s presentation on the day.

I am committed to Continued Professional Development (CPD) and regularly engage in professional learning, training, and education to ensure my practice remains current, reflective, and evidence-informed. Ongoing professional development supports safe, ethical practice and enhances my ability to respond to the diverse needs of children and families.

Collaboration with families and other supports is an important part of service delivery. Where appropriate, feedback and communication are used to support consistency, skill generalisation, and progress toward participant goals.
